Marie Lounge by Freifrau: The Embrace of Design, Now in a Relaxed Version

The Marie armchair is reinvented in an even more welcoming lounge version, with a tilting mechanism, matching footstool, and new finishes

21/08/2024 - Marie is not just a chair, but also a gesture - and since this spring also a lounge chair.

Marie is not just a chair, but also a gesture - and since this spring also a lounge chair. Anyone who takes a seat on the Freifrau Marie chair, developed by Hoffmann Kahleyss Design and first presented in 2023, has arrived - in the here and now. The openness of the design is reminiscent of a familiar person‘s arms outstretched in greeting and conveys a sense of security. This gesture is emphasised in the spacious lounge version of Marie that has now been introduced, whose comfort is further enhanced by an integrated rocker-tilt mechanism that is easy to operate using a lever on the side.

The armchair is also characterised by the loose upholstery of the backrest shell, which is held in place by a filigree tubular steel frame. In contrast to the chair, the bracket here is detached from the statics of the frame, which is based on a central column with a cross base. The new design is complemented by a matching footstool. The frame of the armchair and ottoman is available in all Double-Brand colours and, as usual, there is a wide selection of textiles to choose from for the upholstery.

New: Without Armrests and With a Wooden Frame
Another new addition to the range is the Marie chair in the version without armrests and with a wooden frame, which gives the chair a very unique and particularly cosy character. The less expansive version without armrests is also characterised by openness and invites both relaxation and communication. The newly introduced wooden frame, which is available for Marie with or without armrests, radiates warmth and cosiness.

The curved backrest frame creates an exciting dialogue with the cross frame that holds the softly rounded legs together. The new frame is made of oak wood, which is refined with various finishes (natural oiled oak, white oiled oak, walnut stained, black lacquered). The characteristic loose upholstery of the backrest shell, which is accentuated by an all-round bracket, also characterises the new designs. In true Freifrau style, a wide variety of fabrics and leathers - from classic to extravagant - are available for the upholstery. The cover of the backrest shell is closed with a zip and screwed onto the frame together with the supporting plywood shell on the inside. This makes it possible to change the cover and the chair can be easily dismantled into its individual components at the end of its service life.
