Op-art: Optical Furniture by Qualita
12/03/2019 - Op-art, the 20th-century artistic movement characterized by the implementation of optical illusions, lends its name to Ukranian designer Yuriy Zimenko’s latest collection for Qualita. Op-art by Qualita

Inspired by geometric abstractions based on the perception of flat and spatial figures, the collection includes furniture objects from wardrobes to tables whose texture is the main means of expression. The layering of different colors, materials, shapes and angles bring Zimenko's furniture pieces alive with the appearance of movement and dynamic flair.

The gradual change in shapes resulting from the milling process creates planes that become mobile and ‘alive’. Underneath the natural plywood a matte black base is hidden: the contrasting layers create a deep visual impression that contributes to the overall optical effect. Op-art by Qualita

Using natural plywood birch, the furniture looks noble and natural, whereas massive metallic elements complement the attitude. The confident presence of each piece makes it suitable as a standalone feature of a room, or to effortlessly blend in with its surrounding environment.Op-art by Qualita
