13/11/2020 - Brunner presents its design news 2020 and we talked about one of them with the designers Markus Jehs and Jürgen Laub.

The new modular seating landscape pads by Jehs+Laub embodies, according to the designers, the 'explosion of known sofa configurations'. Deconstructed and reassembled, nine upholstered elements plus panels and electrifiable side table were created, to be combined in an almost infinite number of ways.

'We provide the ideal color concept that reinforces the idea behind the design,' explains Markus Jehs. 'In the case of pads, this is usually two contrasting colors that emphasize the fact that the individual upholstered elements penetrate each other. The color of the seams helps to make the shapes easier to read and understand. But of course everything also works tone in tone,' he adds.

The characteristic zigzag seam, as a key design element, not only provides a consistent link, it also represents the passion for detail typical for Brunner.

With pads everything fits together. The various padded islands, impress with their diverse formats and functions, which offer interesting new approaches to sitting, working and communicating. Since 'pads should be able to do both,' says Markus Jehs, 'sitting together, but also sitting at a distance.'

This is the clear advantage of a system as variable as pads. The kit, which is also available in flame-retardant material, offers planners the opportunity to adapt to all requirements, even at short notice. Especially in today's context, this is an essential feature for presenting a relevant collection for the office and contract sectors.

Like most successful collections, pads is the result of a fruitful collaboration. For the designers Jehs+Laub it is not the first collaboration with Brunner. The team is already well established and the work process on paper, digital and in models is fluent, because for all of them the discourse with each other remains the main focus.

'We work together with a large Brunner team from all departments. Everyone in this team has the big picture in mind and we all pull together in the same direction. These are optimal conditions for us designers to implement things quickly and correctly,' says Markus Jehs about their collaboration with Brunner.
