Pipistrello, an Icon in New Color Versions

17/01/2019 - During Maison&Objet Martinelli Luce presents Pipistrello in Paris in two new color versions, a satin-finish brass and a rich, deep, powerful agave green. The new versions complement those already in the catalogue: the dark brown of the lamp’s first incarnation, white, scarlet red, brilliant black, satin-finish aluminum, copper, and the gold of the 50th anniversary edition.

In all cases, the color variants regard the conical base and the metal knob which secures the opal white methacrylate diffuser to the lamp’s satin-finish stainless steel ‘telescope’. The new finishes are available on all three lamp sizes.

Designed by Gae Aulenti as lighting for the Olivetti shop in Paris, the lamp possesses a polyhedral personality uniting the dynamism of clean lines with the geometries of pure forms. Pipistrello can be raised or lowered, according to need, with a simple gesture: in the low position it is a table lamp; telescoped up, it is perfect alongside a sofa or standing on the floor.
