17/12/2019 - PELLE introduces “Pop Goes The Bubble”, a collection celebrating 11 years of the studio’s first and best-known design, the Bubble Chandelier, with 11 unique pop-inspired editions available for purchase beginning December 9th. In the spirit of the holiday season, PELLE will donate 25% of all “Pop Goes The Bubble” net profit to Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, a non-profit organization serving over 1,000 meals every weekday to homeless and underprivileged residents from the studio’s local neighborhood and greater NYC.
First conceived 11 years ago, in November 2008, the Bubble Chandelier has since grown to encompass a line of 11 standard types that range in size and composition including Small, Large, Wreath, Pendant, and Supra, among others.
“Pop Goes The Bubble” celebrates the Bubble Chandelier’s longevity and popularity, incorporating pop art and pop culture references into 11 unique pieces. The collection includes one of each standard type reimagined with a different pop-inspired design, nodding to mass produced objects like sneakers and confetti, ubiquitous and enduring patterns like leopard and camouflage, and iconic works by the likes of Yves Klein.
Kiss Kiss is a Small Bubble Chandelier, featuring glossy red lipstick imprints on the glass globes. The lipstick stains are in the manner of Marilyn Monroe's cocktail napkin kiss prints.
Specular is an Original Bubble Chandelier that mimics the glass reflections as seen in photography. By directly placing hand-painted specular reflections onto the globes, this Bubble Chandelier is playfully selfreferential, while creating a new and unique geometric pattern.
Paradise is a Large Bubble Chandelier that features hand paintings of birdof-paradise flowers and leaf motifs on each glass globe. The bird-ofparadise is a symbol of joy and represents magnificence - the flowers and leaves are painted in a vibrant stain-glass effect.
Branded is an X-Large Bubble Chandelier inspired by fashion's incorporation of logos onto their goods. Like handbags and other accessories, The X-Large Bubble Chandelier will prominently bear a handpainted letter of the "Pelle" script logo on each of its glass globes.
24K is a Jumbo Bubble Chandelier, gilded from top to bottom in pure gold leaf. Each globe is emblazoned with the words "24K" in the album typeface used by Tupac Shakir, the rap artist known for his gold embellishments.
Spotted is a Supra Bubble Chandelier that features a black-and-gold leopard pattern across all the 30+ glass globes of the Supra. The leopard coat pattern is akin to an armour and lends grace and power, as characterized by the animal.
Kicks is a Pendant Bubble Chandelier that features a cascading outgrowth of white-and-beige sneaker-shoelaces. The sneaker shoelaces replace the cotton and leather cord coiling and strings that are typically used on the Bubble Chandeliers, while referencing the "look" of sneaker culture.
Confetti is a Tall Bubble Chandelier that is hand-painted all over with brushstrokes of yellow, aubergine and pale blue - resembling colorful confetti thrown at a party.
Yves Klein Blue is a X-Tall Bubble Chandelier that nods to Klein’s iconic use of blue pigment. Riffing on Klein's famous “Bleu” coffee tables, the XTall Bubble's glass globes are inserted with Klein Blue pigment powder.
Camo is a Long Bubble Chandelier that creates a camouflage pattern by using various shades of green, brown and tan silks inserted into each glass globe. Instead of blending in, this Camo pattern is intended to stand out.
Pearl Necklace is a Wreath Bubble Chandelier that simulates an enormous cluster ring of lustrous pearls. Each globe within the cluster is treated with a special interior coating that gives the glass globes a luminous iridescence.
