19/06/2023 - With the average person spending approximately 11 hours a day in a chair, there is a growing need for a shift from passive ergonomic design to a more dynamic approach to sitting. QOR360, a Vermont-based startup, introduces The Tilt!, an innovative stool designed to revolutionize how people work by promoting active sitting that can improve posture, increase core strength, reduce back pain and boost metabolic health. Developing The Tilt! involved six years of extensive research, incorporating customer feedback and a strong focus on design innovation.
The result is a versatile object whose compact size makes it easy to transport and convenient to store when not in use. In addition, adjustable features allow users to customize the height according to their preferences, ensuring optimal comfort and support for extended periods. Finally, the Tilt! is inherently sustainable, using far less material than most modern office chairs. The seat cushion is filled with organic buckwheat husk, a biodegradable, comfortable, and environmentally friendly material.
The base is made from a combination of recyclable wood, steel and natural rubber, providing a stable foundation for the user. Unlike QOR360's Ariel chair, The Tilt! features a simplified design with a single mount that allows for 360 degrees of movement, allowing users to engage their muscles and maintain a more natural position.
QOR360 was founded in 2016 by Dr. Turner Osler, a former surgeon who recognized the profound impact of sitting on overall health after personally experiencing the adverse effects of badly designed chairs. Traditional office chairs tend to promote poor posture and a sedentary lifestyle, contributing to a host of health problems.
On the other hand, active sitting encourages natural movement of the hips and spine, helping individuals maintain a more aligned and comfortable body position and improving muscle strength and circulation. By incorporating the principles of active sitting into its products, QOR360 enables people to remain active and alert even during seated tasks, promoting long-term health and wellness.
