'I was interested in finding a very minimal idea, made of just a few elements, but that would be surprising at the same time', explains the designer. 'The compass structure and the plywood characterize the project and evoke architecture and technical design'.
Ferrarini’s new design is a convenient option for projects that require excellent functionality and durability over time. According to the guiding principle of the concept: 'the chair had to have good characteristics in terms of resistance, lightness, stackability; and it is above all on this last concept that we have worked so hard. Quadra is in fact infinitely stackable, a beautiful sculpture to see'. Metaphorically, Quadra is made up of two profiles that manage to complement each other in perfect harmony. Two dancers in dialogue with the architectural space, narrowing their position and creating movement measured in the shape of a structure. A wooden seat is added to this ensemble as a counterpoint and source of warmth. Without any visible screws, it offers the sturdiness of a chair ready for heavy use.
'There is an affinity with the company for this theme that they describe as warm minimalism', says Mario Ferrarini, 'not a dry minimalism, but made up of more accommodating, round elements that can be somewhat closer to humans'.
