Reason to Pause: Peca @ NYCxDesign
15/05/2019 - Guadalajara-based studio Peca brings its design pieces to NYCxDesign, with a catalogue that is rich in both tradition and innovation. The three featured products, the Pausa dividers, the Trazo stools, and the Verso table, aptly represent Studio Director and Head Designer Caterina Moretti’s collaborative approach to product design. The collections demonstrate the brand’s ability to work with natural materials, exploring texture and form, to bring nature indoors in surprising ways.

PAUSA DIVIDERS - Design by Caterina Moretti & Alejandra Carmona Pausa divider by Peca

When we read, we can build the most wondrous places in our imagination. Images so full of beauty that leave us breathless, in need for a meditative pause. PAUSA is a set of multifunctional paperweight/bookmarks delicately sculpted in three different materials, beech wood, brass and onyx. Do not fret: the sheen of brass, the warmth of wood, and the smoothness of the onyx of the PAUSA paperweight/bookmarks will hold the place where you left off.

TRAZO STOOLS - Design by Caterina Moretti & Justine Trofléau, Artist: Luis Rodrigo Medina, Artisan: Oscar Pedroza

Individually hand embroidered, TRAZO tells a story of ancient Mexican tradition and craftsmanship. The embroidery pattern is a design by artist Luis Rodrigo Medina, crafted using the maguey fiber on leather embroidery technique known as piteado. These stools and benches evoke the charrería horse-riding chair. In TRAZO, the present borrows traditions, materials and processes from the past and takes them impeccably to a whole new level.

VERSO TABLE - Design by Caterina Moretti Verso table by Peca

The VERSO table is straight out of a poem. Two flawlessly intersected ropes curve up to support the disc that is delicately poised on top. A creation filled with cadence. The transposition between organic materials and the subtle geometry of the design inspire limitless possibilities in any atmosphere.Verso table by Paca
