Roll up! Roll up! CIRCO

The new range of furniture from ames at M&O

12/09/2017 - At the 2017 autumn edition of Maison & Objet, ames presents an unconventional range of furniture inspired by Colombia’s travelling circuses. Designed by Sebastian Herkner, the first members of the CIRCO family to be celebrating their debut in Paris are a chair, a lounge chair and a side table. You will not find many cinemas in the small towns and villages of Colombia, but there is a longstanding tradition of travelling circuses, passed down from one generation to another. Taking inspiration from this living tradition and from the objects and shapes found in the circus, Sebastian Herkner has created the CIRCO range of furniture, boasting bases that are reminiscent of the stools on which circus elephants put their feet. The CIRCO furniture is also suitable for outdoor use. Using powder-coated tubular steel and colourful synthetic weave, CIRCO is handcrafted for ames by Colombian artisanos working in a small manufactory. The special colours for the recycled plastic are created using specially developed dyes whose production takes several weeks’ time. Together with the stool-like bases, these qualities make CIRCO an unconventional and unique range of products that reflects Colombian joie de vivre and showcases the country’s traditional crafts: furniture with a very special flair, for indoor and outdoor use, for the home and for commercial applications. CIRCO is also available with cushions whose covers are made from Nya Nordiska’s RIMINI fabric, suitable for outdoor use. The CIRCO range is part of the ames sala by sebastian herkner collection, launched at IMM Cologne 2016. The ames sala collection also includes different ranges of throws and rugs made from wool, cushions with macramé ornaments, felt bowls, baskets made from esparto grass, as well as another range of colourful tubular steel and synthetic-weave furniture suitable for outdoor use.
