07/02/2014 - The carpets of the ‘Frame’ collection incorporate surprising features, in the form of variously designed border variants based on fringes, pompoms or braids. At first glance it may look as if Frame relies entirely on external features - but the eight carpet models of the collection have a lot to offer in inward terms as well. Made exclusively from natural materials like new wool, linen and felt, all the variants are made at Ruckstuhl's factory in Langenthal, Switzerland.

This Ruckstuhl collection continues the tradition of border carpets that was first launched in the eighties. Back then borders were an innovative response to the new trend that was felt as wall-to-wall carpeting went out of fashion. Ruckstuhl succeeded in reacting to changing requirements promptly and comprehensively, and so came up with solutions that were in keeping with the market. The ‘Frame’ collection is a further playful variation on that original theme.

The original idea for ‘Frame’ came from the classic oriental rug with its characteristic fringes - here realised in a contemporary and modern form. A major emphasis has been placed on variety. Fossilised concepts have been avoided as far as possible. In this way the conventional carpet fringe has served as a springboard and starting point for completely new creative forms and processing techniques.

So Frame has grown to become a veritable symbiosis of colours, forms and patterns. With interpretations ranging from experimental to classic, from the opulent to the playful, all eight variants are nonetheless defined by their engagement with the same theme - a playful approach to boundaries and breakthrough.

First of all, ‘Ballerina’ offers an impressive collection of fluffy pompom fringes or borders made of cotton, designed in colour contrast with the carpet in each case. Cotton is the material used, and the customer can choose from ten different colour combinations in either a rounded or a right-angled version.

With woven leather strips in one or two colours, ‘Cross’ sees itself as a purist felt carpet with a touch of the urbane lifestyle. The carpet is available in four different colour combinations.

Domus’ relies on large-scale loops and a skilful material mix of leather and felt, making a classic statement in residential settings. Customers can choose from four colour combinations.

The ‘Donna’ carpet combines sensuous elegance with sophisticated detail. The perforated braiding that makes up the surround of the carpet offers seethrough glimpses. Customers can choose from six colour combinations.

Fantasia’ is a modern fusion of playful ruche strips in viscose with a woollen or viscose carpet. It comes in six intensive colour combinations.

The sisal carpet ‘Volante’ has a double surround of cotton loops. Four earthy colour tones are available, in addition to plain white and red.

Barococo’ cleverly combines different stylistic epochs, resulting in a luxurious fluffy carpet in wool/viscose velour together with casual cord fringes in viscose. This comes in a right-angled or rounded version, and customers can choose from six different colours.

Primus’ is characterised by regular smooth leather fringes arranged around a compact felt carpet, giving an impression of graphic clarity. Obtainable in four timeless earth tones and two intensive colour variants.

To sum up, the Frame collection boasts a lavish assortment of borders which make a powerful visual statement and offer equally timeless designs for every style of domestic interior.
