26/2/2020 - Decision confirmed. This year's edition of the Salone del Mobile has been postponed and will be held June 16 - 21, 2020. To announce this important news, an official press release issued at 8:40 yesterday evening:

The Board of Directors of Federlegno Arredo Eventi assembled today in an extraordinary meeting and, given the ongoing health emergency, decided to postpone this year's edition of the Salone del Mobile. New date: June 16 – 21, 2020.

Given the current health emergency and safety measures taken after cases had been reported in the Milan area, many wondered whether the Salone would take place or not? Last night's decision: this year's edition is postponed to June.

News arrived only hours after a press release confirming the postponement of the MCE (Mostra Convegno Expocomfort), international fair for HVAC + R, renewable energy and energy efficiency which was to take place in Milan March 17 – 20, 2020.

Already on Monday, also aimed at limiting risks related to the coronavirus, had been disclosed the decision to postpone the Frankfurt Light&Building. The biennial international fair for lighting and building automation will now open its doors in September.

Following an ordinance issued by the City of Milan, asking for the suspension of public and private gatherings of people, hope had diminished already. Disappointment is shared by many who found it hard to believe that the most awaited and important event with the international design should be affected as well.

But it's not a cancellation. The event has been postponed only.
“Milan won't stand still.” This is the statement of mayor Giuseppe Sala.

The confirmation of the event - says the official press release - strongly supported by Milan's mayor Giuseppe Sala - allows companies, now called to an important proof of responsibility, to present their work to the international public that awaits the annual appointment with the Salone del Mobile. Milan as a reference point for creativity and design.

Archiproducts enthusiastically welcomes the confirmation of the event, keeping up all activities and continuing the months-long preparations for the 2020 edition of Milan Design Week.

Eminently with the planning of the new Design Experience at Archiproducts Milano, which in 2020 will see its 5th edition. Sneak peeks of what awaits this year’s visitors in Via Tortona 31 will be posted from June 16. And, as usual, the historic venue will serve as a meeting place for brands and designers, also after the Milan Design Week has ended.
