02/04/2020 - Two of
Slamp creative atelier’s highly successful collections have new additions:
Hugo, recent winner of the Red Dot Design Award, is now a suspension and floor lamp. Marc Sadler’s revolutionary
Accordéon collection, with its unique, iconic narrative, now includes Accordéon Table.
Hugo, winner of the Red Dot Product Design Award, is a suspended technicaldecorative lighting system. The integrated LED is softened and liquified by Slamp’s unique prismatic Lentiflex®. The white version has a silky printed effect. The product’s elevated lighting quality is not only for professional spaces, but domestic ones like the kitchen, where the lamp eliminates shadows, casting light on utensils and ingredients, or the bathroom, where the even glow is fit for putting on a perfect face of makeup.
Hugo Vertical makes a particularly dramatic statement in compositions within large spaces like hotels, conference halls, and shopping centres, especially when combined with other options from the Hugo collection, including Hugo and Hugo Architectural.
Solid, yet fluid: the magical effect of
Hugo Floor is created with an invisible steel frame hidden under layers of Slamp’s innovative Lentiflex®, a material that liquifies LED illumination. The light is transformed into a soft, uniform, almost weightless, floating glow. The design and bend were inspired by the outreached hands of Michelangelo’s “Last Judgement” in the Sistine Chapel. The light touch dimming system is ergonomically placed, and blinks when the lamp is at minimum and maximum brightness. Just like the Hugo, Hugo Vertical, and Hugo Architectural system, Hugo Floor respects the UNI EN 12464-1:2011 standard for office illumination. The transformer plugs in and the cord is black to avoid showing any dirt while resting on the floor. It’s very easy to assemble: the two modules have a pre-set inclination, and simply connect together.
The
Accordéon collection represents a new narrative in contemporary design: Slamp’s exclusive Lentiflex® material is heated and hand moulded by the women who tailor light. Every piece is one of a kind, but the lamps are identical. A thin steel plaque on the side of each lamp is inscribed with “Handmade in Italy”, attesting to the product’s unique design. The internal structure and clasp match the fluidity of the external plissé diffusor and prevent the accumulation of dust. The lamp has dual switches, one for the shade and another for the base. Both light sources can be used together, and cast a uniform glow and a cotton-like silhouette. The table lamp’s shade and sockets are have magnets to facilitate cleaning and changing the bulbs.
