The Museum houses the Compasso d'Oro Historic Collection which is made up of selected objects from 1954 to today, and it opens its doors to the public with 8 contemporary in-depth exhibitions closely linked to the Collection. However, more than just a meeting place for the design community, the ADI Design Museum is intended to be a point of reference for the general public who will be able to better understand the true meaning and value of design through the pieces in the collection and the  innovative format with in-depth theme-based studies, conferences, events and workshops for young people.

This is a tremendously important event for both the Association and the ADI Foundation, because the museum has responsibilities that go well beyond its links with the Association. It represents a commitment not just to the specialist Made in Italy sector, but to the wider community in general” said Umberto Cabini, President of the ADI Foundation.

We are extremely proud of this result which has been made possible thanks to the commitment and trust of all those involved. It highlights an extraordinary associative vitality” underlined ADI President Luciano Galimberti.

The Press Conference at 11.00 will be attended by the Minister of Culture, the Hon. Dario Franceschini, the Lombardy Region Spokesman for Culture Stefano Bruno Galli, the Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, the President of FederlegnoArredo Claudio Feltrin and Barbara Beltrame, Vice President of Confindustria with responsibility for internationalization.

The opening ceremony will take place at 14.30 in the presence of the President of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fontana, together with representatives from various authorities, stakeholders, partners and all those who have contributed to the creation of the ADI Design Museum. Doors will be open to ADI Members and to the public from 16.00 onwards but in compliance with Covid regulations, participation will only be permitted following registration.

The opening of the new design museum signifies a great deal more than the creation of a focal point for the narration and promotion of the Italian design system in Milan and the rest of the country. It will also be a solid sign of hope for the whole Made in Italy culture and a relaunching of the country, following the difficult situation resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic experienced during the last year.

From May 26th the ADI Design Museum will be open to the public from 10.30 to 20.00 from Tuesdays to Sundays.
