27/07/2021 - On occasion of Milano Design Week Cassina presents the 2021 Collection in the welcoming and eclectic atmospheres of three apartments in the showroom in via Durini.
A complete proposal for all areas of the home, from the living and dining rooms to the bedroom and outdoors, where the company's icons dialogue with new pieces designed by the architects and designers Michael Anastassiades, Jeffrey Bernett, Philippe Starck and Cassina’s Art Director Patricia Urquiola.
Michael Anastassiades presents the Ordinal dining table in new oval, square or rectangular versions completely made in marble. Available in Portoro silver, Calacatta gold, Alpi green and white Carrara marble, the mono- material version further highlights the form and prestige of this sculptural table.
Ergonomic and welcoming, the armchair is the first project by the American designer Jeffrey Bernett for Cassina. Exord is a high-back, swivel or automatic return, armchair that responds to today's need for comfort in the home or office.
Philippe Starck continues his creative journey with Cassina and presents a complete collection for the bedroom. Volage EX-S Night includes a bed fitted with an elegant headboard on which lighting and useful accessories are suspended, a bedside table, a chest of drawers, a compact sofa, armchair and bench, all featuring the same elegant and harmonious concept.
The Sengu table and the Dudet armchair are the novelties for the Cassina dining area designed by Patricia Urquiola. A Japanese-inspired table that focuses on the union of different materials and an upholstered seat that evokes the design of the 70s.
Projects by Vico Magistretti and Afra & Tobia Scarpa make a return from the archives: Edison is the industrial-inspired table designed by Magistretti in the 1980s, which incorporates the cross joint used in gas plants; from 1969 the Soriana upholstered furniture designed by Afra & Tobia Scarpa, a series of soft seats characterized by a giant metal brace to form the generous upholstery; also designed by Afra & Tobia Scarpa the Carlotta armchair from 1967, informal and welcoming.
Danish architect
Bodil Kjær enters the Cassina Collection with three pieces designed for relaxation and casual dining: an armchair, three nesting tables and a service trolley, originally designed in the 1950s and 60s, to best respond to the concept of versatile and dynamic spaces.
New, never produced before, items by
Franco Albini and
Charlotte Perriand are added to the collection: the iconic glass radio conceived by Franco Albini as a prototype model for his own home in 1938; the Ambassade screen, the Nuage à Plots bookcase, the Petit bureau en forme libre desk, the Le Monde de Charlotte Perriand table collection developed in collaboration with Ginori 1735.
The quest for innovation continues, also thanks to the work carried out by Cassina LAB, a collaboration between the Cassina Research and Development Centre and Poli.design at the Milan Polytechnic, to research and develop sustainable materials and wellness features, making our home experience not only more comfortable but also more conscious.
The company also starts a new chapter and presents Cassina Pro. Professional, project orientated and product certified, this collection brings together a vast selection of Cassina’s most loved contemporary furniture and icons, together with five new designs, all developed and certified to cater for public spaces, from hotels and restaurants to lobbies and workspaces.
