'The essence of beauty is when strength and fragility come together in one piece'

28/08/2015 - The Regina cabinet is an objet d'Art constructed from multiple layers of Laser Cut mahogany and acrylic panels with stainless steel fittings. The matted and polished acrylic layers play with the light resulting in continuously changing reflections and subtle contrasts.

The interior of the cabinet reveals the grid which is consistently present throughout the design. A ribbed inner construction pierces the polished mahogany skin. The base construction radiates from the center of the cabinet. Although composed from distinctive geometrical shapes all elements are strongly intertwined by composition and detail.

HenningMadeis a Dutch studio of Sven Hulsbergen Henning, which uses modern materials and technology to reinvent the art of master craftsmanship.

Geometrical patterns of natural growth and decay we see as an equal alternative to figurative imagery. Merging these patterns with classic rules of composition we aim to create a new yet familiar sensibility in aesthetics. Composition is the architecture of art. It’s the tendency of man’s mind to organize visual images through squares, triangles and circles.

Historically composition has been a mathematical canvas loaded with symbolism which supported the figurative arts and helped us deal with the unknown.

This organized canvas was necessary to create a clear and meaningful image of intangible and complex human relations concerning life and death. The importance of connecting matters of heart and mind was emphasized by the amount of dedication needed for the creation of antique masterpieces.

This cocktail of ingredients can humble man while he is able to grasp the mighty universe he is a part of; a simultaneous experience of humility and power, I believe, is the essence of beauty.
