20/01/2022 - For all LEGO fans, a new item has now been added to the list of 'must-haves'. In collaboration with the historic toy brand, the Danish company, Room Copenhagen, is unveiling a new collection of furniture and accessories in sustainable wood inspired by the famous toy.
The series includes shelves, boxes, garment racks and frames in FSC-certified red oak, with dark or light stained finishes. Stackable and extendable, the modules recall the famous plastic bricks, scaling their original dimensions and varying their functions.
This is a return to LEGO’s origins. Founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen, the renowned Danish brand originally produced wood toys. The material was abandoned in the 1960s after a fire to make way for the ABS plastic that was so popular at the time.
The idea of play has always been part of Room Copenhagen's design DNA. The phrase 'Playful Nordic Design' encapsulates the brand's philosophy. Room Copenhagen reinterprets everyday objects, from lunchboxes to desktops with a touch of playfulness, colour and Nordic minimalism.
In 2010, the Danish company began working with two of the most famous children's brands, LEGO and Crayola®, to create products ranging from crayon-shaped containers to hyper-coloured picture frames. The products revisit some of the great classics allowing children and adults to rediscover the more playful side of furniture design.
