The new products by Schellmann Furniture

26/02/2013 - Schellmann Furniture has developed out of Edition Schellmann, which has published art editions – prints, objects, photographic works, and installations – by major international artists since 1969. In this context, we began in 2006 to produce artists‘ furniture in limited editions, including objects by Joseph Beuys, Donald Judd, Gerhard Merz, Liam Gillick, and Rachel Whiteread. Concurrently Jörg Schellmann commenced developing his own designs and having them manufactured, initially relying on oneoff artisanal techniques. Since 2012, the continually expanding furniture line has been manufactured in small industrial series.

What characterizes Schellmann Furniture? The pieces are simple yet not trivial, use-oriented but not „comfy“, unusual but not „original“, up-to-date without being fashionable, beautiful without being superficial. Although their construction and aesthetic are demanding, unusual and in advance of run-of-the-mill furniture production, the pieces are offered at quite normal prices. We view furniture first and foremost as useful objects that should be durable, in terms both of design and practicality.

At Stockholm Furniture Fair Schellmann Furniture has presented the new products:

Pylon Chair: Seat shell on cast aluminum support Pylon Chair can be equipped with armrests.
Pylon Table: Cast aluminum support and steel table support, adjustable in length.
Tray: Aluminum side table with plastic tray.
Split Shelf: Folded aluminum wall shelf, two parts.
Modular Shelf: Wall shelf made of aluminum profile, as single or double elements.
L’Heure Bleue: Clockwork in aluminum casing with color mineral glass.
Clockwork Orange: Clockwork in aluminum casing with color mineral glass.
Seat Frame 1: Armchair made of tubular steel and perforated aluminum.
Seat Frame 2: Sofa made of tubular steel and perforated aluminum.
Seat Frame Light 1: Armchair made of tubular steel and perforated aluminum.
Seat Frame Light 2: Sofa made of tubular steel and perforated aluminum.
Storage 6: Modular storage made of steel, with 6 industrial plastic boxes.
Storage Vertical: Storage made of steel, with industrial plastic boxes.
Bookshelf 5: Steel frame (5 storeys) with folded aluminum.
Library: Bookshelf made of steel, with aluminum sliding doors.
Desk Shelf: Steel construction with folded aluminum and wooden top.
Seat Cube 1: Armchair with adjoining cube made of MDF. Seat Cube 1 and 2 and the adjoining Cubes make a modular system to be combined in any configuration. The cubes hold a cast aluminum socket in the tops.
Staff Lamp Floor: Tubular steel with socket, to be mounted on the floor or placed free standing on steel base.
