Sustainable development is something as simple as ensuring the needs of the present without com-promising the needs of future generations, and experience is proving that it is possible. It has be-come an essential part of organisations' strategies, beyond the regulatory requirements, and can be seen in the implementation of new internal systems and in the adaptation of spaces to this new situ-ation.
Moreover, sustainability and well-being complement each other and come together in any compa-ny's decision-making process, in particular at a time of change and transformation, such as at pre-sent. For Soledat Berbegal, Actiu's Boad Member and Brand Reputation Director “manufacturing is all about optimisation and looking after the environment. We are a family-run industrial company convinced that what we do has a positive impact, not just on people, but on our planet. That's why we have been striving for years to come up with ways to reuse, recycle and create a highly sus-tainable working environment”.
Actiu was a pioneer in taking care of every last detail in the furniture manufacturing process, using recycled and recyclable materials, ensuring minimal waste.

In this regard, Actiu became the first Spanish manufacturer to incorporate 0% formaldehyde mela-mine. Furthermore, 85% of the boards are recycled. For plastic injection processes, all the surplus is reused for new parts. For its part, manufacturing tables such as Longo, leaves behind a carbon footprint - in other words, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions - which is 56% lower than similar models from other manufacturers. As for the Tabula table, emissions are reduced by roughly 41%. As for the chairs, creating a part of the Uma model cuts the carbon footprint down by 68.5% compared to similar chairs.
In terms of recycling, all of the steel used is recyclable and 100% of the aluminium is recycled from the automotive industry. All cardboard used for packaging is recyclable and recycled, while the bags are compostable. With regards to occupational hygiene and health, which is of the utmost im-portance at the moment, some of the fabrics in the Actiu range not only include options made from recycled plastic bottles, we also have solutions which, due to their materials and composition, re-duce the build-up of microorganisms.
