22/02/2024 - TRAGA, a new Milanese design brand, is redefining the glassware scene with its colorful, multifunctional, and informal pieces. These designs challenge traditional notions of what glass can be.
Founded by Milan-based Daniel Nikolovski, the new brand's ethos focuses on hyper-functionality and the manipulation of proportions, underscored by a subtle influence of the Brutalist aesthetic from Nikolovski's hometown of Skopje.
This approach is manifested in the brand's debut product - the Martini Shot Glass - a versatile hybrid vessel that can be flipped as a martini glass on one end or a shot glass on the other. Crafted from durable borosilicate glass and available in four colour options - amber-lilac, blue-pink, teal-blue and clear - it comes with a steel straw and is packaged in the brand's signature recycled cardboard box.
The brand's 'redefining core utility objects' tagline encapsulates its mission to reimagine everyday objects while advocating for individuals to prioritise moments of self-reflection and social engagement. Derived from Proto-Slavic roots, the brand name 'Traga' embodies the notion of leaving a subtle mark or trace - a metaphor for the marks and stains that glassware often leaves on tablecloths after a convivial gathering, in keeping with their stated goal of designing objects that provide an oasis from the frenetic pace of modern life.
Committed to sustainability, TRAGA prioritises the use of recyclable materials in both its products and packaging. It fosters a culture of collaboration and provides opportunities for aspiring designers to submit their concepts for potential production.
TRAGA unveils new offers every three months through its online platform and a dedicated showroom in Milan's Via Ruggero Bonghi 12, where visitors can explore a carefully curated selection of products, including exclusive pieces not available online, in a tactile and immersive experience.
