Trove: Memories Made Real
15/04/2019 - TROVE is a collaborative exhibition by Melbourne-based lighting design studios CHRISTOPHER BOOTS and LOST PROFILE STUDIO. The objects were displayed during Milan Design Week in Spazio RT. Exploring the idea of the physical embodiment of memory through objects, the two design studios created an installation in which their evocative luminaires dialogued with each other prompting questions and sensations through materials, shapes and games of lights and shadows. Boots' sculptural lighting objects delved into the idea that archives are memory made real. The objects that we fashion today are interchangeable with the objects of both the future and the past. What is created today will soon be interpreted by an unknown future as archeological relics from a time long past – Future archives. Viewed as objects of curiosity, how will future inhabitants decode these items? What do the materials, processes and forms say about the artisans who have created these objects and the moment in history that they lived? Meteor

CHRISTOPHER BOOTS and LOST PROFILE STUDIO explored this speculative question in TROVE, contextualizing their work with that of their individual past, present and futures. CHRISTOPHER BOOTS present an unseen series of lighting, alongside re-interpretations of existing fixtures from the studio’s collection.Crystal Fuse
