Using traditional materials and craft techniques, and fusing them with digital processes and avantgarde design, the Colombian TU Taller Design studio makes the most of the creative dexterity of its designers to bring to life vibrant pieces with an unquestionable out-of-the-ordinary quality.

The rich and intricate Colombian heritage is at the essence of the Caribe Table, which contrasts various materials, from glass, to metal to acrylic and textiles to evoke the effect of traditional local weaves, enabling games of light and shadows to play out through the furniture piece. The bent tubular metal Esterilla chair is the product of Tu Taller’s collaboration with H.J.A., converting the traditional aesthetics of a Viennese chair into a bright metallic pattern.

Developed under the concept of colonial Caribbean architecture, built to allow the ocean cross winds pass through, exposing what the eye can see and permeate but cannot be contained. Representing the eclectic Caribbean, the union of transparent and textile materials make it a simple element, but with the personality to make a clear statement in a room, a lobby, a balcony or a refined hotel.

The combination of materials can be expressed through variations of metallic or acrylic structure and frosted glass, and transparent or marble surface.

'Inspired by the past, focused on the present' - this is designer David Del Valle's description of the Esterilla chair, a collaboration between Tu Taller Design and H.J.A. A chair with the traditional aesthetic of wood Viennese chairs, developed using the combined processes of digital fabrication and traditional craftsmanship, and manufactured in bent tubular metal. The chair comes in two versions, for children and adults. Tu Taller Design’s mission is to make design accessible to all, which is why they partnered with H.J.A. to bring quality Colombian design both local and international homes, ensuring a high standard of manufacturing.
