Plust (a play on the words plastic and the Latin plus) is one of six brands owned by the Vicenza-based euro3plast S.p.A., founded in 1974. The company specialises in plastic furniture, the result of an entirely Made-in-Italy certified production process. Founded in 2006, Plust explores the expressive possibilities of plastic by combining technological research and design. The brand has collaborated with such established Italian and international designers as Form Us With Love, Giulio Iacchetti, Joe Velluto, Luca Nichetto, Matali Crasset, Matteo Ragi, Odo Fioravanti and Philippe Tabet. This partnership strategy resulted in king-size vases, furnishing components and lamps in coloured resins - light and resistant products, suitable for domestic, commercial and institutional indoor and outdoor contexts. Plust products are created to free design from trends favouring a functional use of form that inspires and suggests new ways of furnishing space. In addition to furniture, Plust offers end-users and designers services to help them develop products for the smallest jobs to the largest contract projects.

Colourful and bright outdoor furniture: Joe Velluto for Plust

Among one of the first designers to collaborate with Plust Collection was Joe Velluto, art director of the brand book published in 2018 to narrate the company's identity through a juxtaposition of complimentary messages: pop colours and natural landscapes; a female figure interacting with objects; indoor settings in outdoor contexts. Velluto, with his studio JVLT, is the author of many Plust projects. They include the Diamond vase with clean, essential lines that evoke the cut of precious stones; Bartolomeo, a family of bright, colourful furnishings consisting of a bar counter, free-standing display and modular corner elements that are solid and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use; Halful, a totemic half-full and half-empty vase made of regenerated plastic in a minimal volume and metal wireframe – an object that plays with solid and void, heaviness and lightness, exposing the harmony of two contrasting souls.

Plust: plastic furniture from the big names

Over the years, Plust has enjoyed other fruitful collaborations with Giulio Iacchetti, Matteo Ragni, Luca Nichetto, Odo Fioravanti, Matali Crasset, and Form Us With Love, along with many other well-known and emerging designers. Iacchetti created Bold, a family of colourful or luminous armchairs, sofas and coffee tables with decisive, linear forms emphasised by the comfortable cushions guaranteed for outdoor use. Matteo Ragni and Maurizio Prina designed Frozen Family, a collection composed of a modular bar counter, available in two depths, equipped with compartments and a large worktop; a high table with stool; a dining table with an armchair. The common thread is the geometric faceting that conceals the joints between the modular elements. Presented at the 2019 Salone del Mobile, the armchair and three-seater sofa from the Settembre collection by Luca Nichetto celebrate a farewell to summer. Rounded shapes and curved surfaces guarantee comfort without the need for additional padding. A slit between the seat and the backrest allows rainwater to run off, while a hole for inserting lights transforms the Settembre armchair and sofa into luminous sculptures. Armillaria, designed by Odo Fioravanti, takes its cue from research into industrial production and mechanical reproduction to create a stool and a table. These two different objects are united by a single base from which they sprout "like mushrooms" giving the product its name (Armillaria is the scientific name for a common mushroom species). The project reflects upon plant structures and appearance; every piece in the collection alludes to the concepts of birth and growth. Big Cut, designed by Matali Crasset, is a collection of indoor and outdoor furnishings pursuing simplicity of use, function and service. The modular system is based on practical and multifunctional components that, together, create sofas, armchairs, chaise longues, islands, peninsulas, settings, poufs and coffee tables. Fura, designed by Form Us With Love, includes a table, a dining table and a stool with totemic forms that recall the cut of a trunk (Fura is named after tall Swedish pines). The collection is characterised by essential, geometric lines interrupted by welcoming cavities, designed for ergonomics and to facilitate movement.
