Fire retardant fabric
The old street seller sat on his mat. He had big hands, the right one leaning against the wall, the left one held tight a sack of raffia. On the mat lay dozens of shoes. No pair, only single shoes.
The tourist smiled at that man and, not knowing how to ask him for explanations, he greeted and continued his trip out of the medina, heading towards the old town. He never forgot the seller of single shoes.
(From Sara Stulle, The seller of single shoes)
