The Low Back Lounge Chair is an upholstered lounge chair with an exposed carved, solid wood frame. Seat and back cushions are comprised of variable density foam surrounded by feather and down. Lumbar and bolster cushions are comprised of feather and down and feature hand sewn leather lacing details. Materials: Exposed frame in solid Walnut, Oak, Ash, or Ebonized Ash.
“Living in a glass house makes you design pieces to look immaculate from every angle,” says Craig Bassam, who designed the BassamFellows Wood Frame Lounge Collection for his own home. The outcome is a remarkably lightweight, yet sophisticated lounge range that looks extremely elegant however it is eventually displayed.
Despite being conceived ‘in the round,’ the lounges are infinitely adaptable pieces, appearing as chic in downtown Manhattan lofts as they do in Connecticut modernist homes. This versatility is the result of the lounge’s sublime, rigorously conceived form, which deconstructs the bulkiness of traditional lounge seating. As such, the form is reduced to its essence — an exposed structural wood frame elevated to fine cabinetry and a system of thin, layered cushions for ultimate comfort.
The structural honesty achieves the appearance of a “floating” seat, angled for ergonomic balance, allowing the user to settle in rather than perch. The Wood Frame series includes a low back, a high back, and a reinterpretation of a classic wing back – all available in club chair, settee, and sofa versions.
Comfort is also of utmost importance. Within its minimal profile are seat and back cushions comprised of a variable density foam core surrounded by plush down and feather pillows that are hand sewn, tufted and welted. Lumbar and bolster cushions are removable and are comprised of down and feather fill. Upholstery options for this new modern classic include a rich palette of natural grain leathers from Scandinavian hides and a curated selection of fine textiles.
