CHADDAR By GAN
Contemporary style solid-color rectangular wool rug
Charlotte Lancelot, author of some of GAN’s most popular collection, once again demonstrates her love for needlepoint with her latest creation: CHADDAR. Following SILAÏ (launched in 2017), this new collection of indoor rugs employs the same technique - petit point bringing traditional embroidery work to contemporary rugs.
Its name, of Hindi origin, refers to traditional Indian sheets, made on manual looms and known for their beautiful designs and incredible durability.
The thickness of the designs and its neutral tones make this collection very appealing for any space that requires an extra dose of texture. In the words of its own creator: “CHADDAR is like that lovely jumper that we put on when we just want to stay home and relax, the one we never take off”.
CHADDAR is available a 170x240 cm / 5’7’’x7’11’’ and 200x300 cm / 6’7’’x9’10’’ format and 4 different natural colors (white, grey, camel and charcoal) achieve without the use of dyes. Its intentional monochromatic look highlights the irreplaceable value of handwork and the perpetual reinvention of the ancient art of embroidery. Thus, each stitch creates certain shades of color. In each piece, a staggered transition can be seen between two different areas: one in which an infinity of small leaves or spikes are intertwined, and another one that is more linear, with different types of stitches interspersed.
