“Give me odorous at sunrise a garden of beautiful flowers where I can walk undisturbed.”(Walt Whitman)
Indulge in total relax: do it on a garden swing seat! A corner of your garden that reminds you of your childhood’s swing or your cradle when you were a baby and that lets you enjoy your garden, terrace or patio listening to your favorite music or reading a book. Usually made for two or three seats, the swing is made up of the seating, two lateral armrests, and a parasol hood. It is advisable to fix the swing to the floor in case of light plastic structures and to place it in spaces large enough not to find obstacles when swinging.
The most common material used for the swing seat are metal, wood and plastic. Themetal garden swring seats in stainless steel, aluminum or wrought iron are among the most popular because they’re sturdy, easy to use and available in different colors. If the material is good quality, the metal swing will not require a lot of maintenance but you must provide for re-varnishing cycles to avoid rusting. Very picturesque and elegant, the wrought iron swings have the indisputable advantage to be customizable according to the customer’s wishes. The wood garden swing seats have the classical charm of the natural material that best suits outdoor furnishing. A wooden swing has a more massive structure compared to the metal one, but if the chosen wood is weather resistant it doesn’t require a lot of maintenance. Among the most chosen woods there’s teak which resists perfectly to humidity and sunrays and rattan, which is made by braiding Asian palm wood, treated with resins and UV and anti-insect treatment. Plastic swings are probably the most common thanks to their low prices, lightness and cleaning ease. They are particularly delicate and harsh atmospheric conditions may hamper their color and flexibility. However, thanks to hi-tech – fiber reinforced – synthetic resin added plastics, today you can get a garden swing that puts together the natural aspect of wood and the durability of a synthetic material (synthetic teak, synthetic rattan).
The seat of the swing is usually covered with removable cover cushions made with washable fabric. Cushion’s fabric matches the parasol fabric so it is better to choose waterproof fabrics with a high UV ray and wind resistance.
Don’t forget to match the garden swing with other pieces of furniture you already have in the garden. Do you have a romantic garden? Choose a wrought iron swing with pale colored fabrics. Is your garden sofa ultra-modern? Choose a couple of mono-seat swings in synthetic rattan. Country style is your passion? A two seat teak model and a pale color fabric hood is the best. Choose your favorite garden swing on Archiproducts!
