Patterned handmade rug
Graphic elements, abstract geometries, color stains cut loose to create floral patterns, analysis of emotions: the collection “Nodi” reveals the visionary talent of Rosemarie Auberson, Valentina Cameranesi, Casalinghe di Tokyo, José Mendoza, capable of changing the ancient hand-knotted technique into avantgarde design.
The rug Esodo is inspired by a recent phenomenon in Italy. Today we are witnessing another major, yet silent, exodus since the first large emigration in the early 1900s, as a result of a borderfree Europe and unsteady social/working condition.
The concept of movement lays at the foundation of Karpeta’s aesthetic research, which we aim to develop in a minimal, yet dynamic way.
Lines like paths, fast crossing the surface. Each dot corresponds to one of Italy’s 20 regions.
A sharp, chaotic movement that reminds us of the journey each individual has to get through.
The graphic elaboration of the data has been developed and designed together with Martina Merlini for Casalinghe di Tokyo.
