Kids mattresses

Kids’ mattresses have to be chosen carefully always keeping in mind their safety and hygiene. First, you need to have the exact size of the bed on which the mattress will be placed on. We can have cradle mattresses (about 90x45 cm) and cot mattresses (about 125x62 cm) and the classical single bed mattresses (about 190x80 cm). Each type of mattress has its own requirements. First of all the mattress needs to be of the perfect size because the spaces between the mattress and the bed may be dangerous since the baby might put their head, arms or legs in between them and get hurt during their sleep. So the bed’s surface must be completely covered.
Just like cradle mattresses, it is important that kids’ ones are made of anti-mite, anti-choking, non-toxic and non-allergenic materials like natural latex and there should be no strings, buttons and labels because the baby might swallow them. The cot mattress should have machine-washable covers to wash them frequently. These mattresses’ thickness should be around 5-7 cm.
A kids’ bed mattress is thicker, around 12 cm, because it will have to support their head for several years so it should be sturdy and orthopedic. A normal spring mattress should do the job because at this stage it is too early to choose differentiated zones mattresses because their fast body development would cover different areas of the mattress as they grow.
The criteria for choosing adults’ mattresses apply for the normal single mattresses as well.
