ODA BIG By Pulpo
A slender base hugs a bulbous form. An industrial motif softened by the gentle curves of handblown glass. The Oda series of table and floor lights reference the stilted forms of silos, furnaces and water towers of a bygone age. A warm glow brings this industrially charged aesthetic into a softer interior setting.
The oda series is made up of four sizes – small, medium, in between and big – and available in a range of color combinations.
Directly inspired by the industrial monuments photographed by the famous Düsseldorf Becher School, Sebastian Herkner bundles up their outer shape and inner function of a steel casting foundry for oda. As a result, the glowing homage to light is a source for coziness and has since then become a reference to contemporary lighting design.
Each piece is created from coloured handblown glass. Bubbles, streaks and other variations in size and colour are part of the production process, and not defects of the design or production. The frame is constructed in either steel; powder coated or chrome plated, or brass.

Oda is big. Oda is a reservoir of light. Oda is a huge floor lamp for the living room - next to your sofa or armchair. Sebastian Herkner’s aim was to create a repository or a balloon full of light. The design is inspired by the amazing pictures of water towers shot by German photographers Bernd and Hilla Becher. A hand-blown, tinted glass barrel balances on a simple and elegant metal structure. The glass is available in four colors: opaque, grey, amber or aubergine.
