Sliding doors are the ideal solution for finishing a small property because they require little space and allow furniture to be placed even close to the doorway. From wood to glass, sliding door panels are made of different materials to always be versatile and suitable for any type of furniture. A sliding door to make spaces dynamic: there are a lot of models on the market, but basically it is possible to distinguish two major categories of sliding doors: interior wall sliding doors and exterior wall sliding doors. The former are more commonly known as concealed sliding doors, and in installing them, no small amount of masonry work is required. This is why it is the case to adopt this option at the very time of construction of a building, or at the time of its renovation.
It is not always possible to use sliding doors: in fact, in the case of walls that contain flues or pipes, or in the case of load-bearing or reinforced concrete walls, it is not possible to install an interior wall sliding door. In these situations, however, it is possible to opt for external-wall sliding doors. Their installation is easier, they are always visible and move on a track fixed to the floor.
The sliding door meets with more and more favor: it is a solution that both divides and unites two rooms, without being too bulky. And basically there are two materials worked for sliding systems: wood and glass. Wood (favorite woods include oak, walnut and ash) is a classic: suitable for a traditional furniture style, it becomes extremely versatile in the case of lacquered sliding doors. In this case you can create contrasts with colors or agree perfectly with the furnishing style. And laminate sliding doors also meet with acclaim.
Glass, on the other hand, allows for a high degree of customization: the material used for sliding doors of this type is tempered glass, which is 4-5 times stronger than regular glass and can be decorated in many ways. For example, a mirrored glass sliding door serves a dual function: it allows you to use the movable wall to mirror yourself and to provide entry and exit from the room. On the other hand, if you want to achieve a nonreflective effect, a sandblasted and frosted glass sliding door allows you to benefit from a glass door without it being completely transparent.
Choosing a sliding door has many advantages. If the spaces inside a property are very small, the area occupied by the swing opening of a normal interior door also becomes essential. This problem is solved by installing a pocket door, which allows two rooms to be divided without separating them completely. Thus the space reserved for the opening of a swing door could be used for better placement of furniture. And being a versatile element, the models on the market make it possible to meet any style requirements. Certainly, wooden sliding doors still turn out to be the best solution for a classic furniture style: a wooden moving wall is always considered the optimal choice for a parquet floor. Glass sliding doors, on the other hand, turn out to be ideal for both a traditional style and a modern type of decor: in this regard, aluminum and glass sliding doors are the latest trend. A sliding door made of glass and wood, then, makes it possible to combine two seemingly different styles.
