Named after the Greek “pillar saints” who lived atop columns, preaching, fasting and praying, Stylites were common in the early days of the Byzantine Empire. Immortalised in Luis Buñuel's Simón del Desierto, Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, and Umberto Eco's Baudolino, these pious beings are the inspiration behind this wistful light. The Stylite light has a calming, soothing presence and is perfect for creating a meditative environment. Inspired by the sensual curves of Aegean architecture, its repeated alcoves create small light installations.
