S 220 H is a stool with wooden shell and metal base.‎
The established shape of the iconic 214 and 209 bentwood chairs served as inspiration for the design by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin of Industrial Facility: the S 220 is a material-efficient, stackable moulded plywood chair with an ergonomic seat shell and a light tubular steel frame.‎ Featuring optional armrests, the chair can be used in a variety of settings – from private homes to the contract sector – and is available in a range of different woods and colours.‎ The chair’s design pushes the limits of what is technically possible using the material of moulded plywood, which has always been a driver of innovation at Thonet.‎ The S 220 has an understated organic form as well as precise lines, and its moulded plywood shell is comfortable and supportive.‎ The chair’s elegant hourglass shape means that the seat shell has just the right amount of give.‎ A smoothly rounded front edge perfectly embodies the harmonious interplay of material quality, aesthetics and functionality that is so characteristic of the S 220.‎ This “waterfall edge”, as the designers call it, avoids pressure points, makes the chair more comfortable and picks up the radii of the tubular steel frame.‎ The range has been expanded with the barstools S 220 H.‎
