Floor-standing WCs are the most popular in the world of sanitary ceramics. Traditionally fixed to the floor, they give the impression of robustness and solidity. Their shapes and lines have evolved over time, from the
classic style of Victorian sanitary ware to the sleek lines of
modern style. However, floor-standing WCs have features that make them a viable alternative to more modern wall-mounted WCs: for example,
compact floor-standing WCs are as space-saving as wall-mounted WCs.
Rimless floor-standing WCs are also becoming increasingly popular, i.e. without the traditional 'pocket rim' into which the flushing water flows; however, in rimless WCs, the rim is made as one piece with the wall of the WC and is replaced by a simple flat groove to promote hygiene and ease of cleaning.
Monobloc WCs, on the other hand, have the cistern integrated into the WC and are characterised by ease of installation, since the various elements that make up the WC are joined together during manufacture so that they can be installed in one piece.
