HIDDEN VASE | Borosilicate glass vase
Borosilicate glass vase
This project started as a research on how to make a vase disappear, and is based on the way a chicken waterer works. A water container is placed upside down on a plate. The flowers are placed around the water container so that it seems as if they are growing directly from the plate from which they get their water. A framework keeps the flowers standing upright.
This research lead to a photographic registration of the installations of the first try-outs for a publication in the Plant Journal, a Spanish magazine about plants.
Based on the outcomes of the initial research a small serie of one-off vases was produced. All consisting out of combinations of various existing plastic and ceramic objects, which lead to the actual hidden vase for valerie_objects consisting out of stoneware or glss tray, a bottle in colored glass and united by a custom-made stainless steel frame in two heights and five different colors.
