Countertop washbasins, together with the countertops or furniture on which they are placed in the bathroom, constitute a practical and modern synthesis of the functions of washing, support and storage. In fact, unlike built-in washbasins, they are placed directly on the furniture, emerging with their shapes and creating a contemporary and original atmosphere, especially when contrasted with the material of the surface on which they are placed. They come in many shapes, styles and sizes: from
rectangular countertop sinks with more linear shapes to
round washbasins with rounded, sinuous lines, they fit perfectly in
modern style bathrooms. Countertop basins can be installed on a wall-mounted or floor-standing bathroom furniture and are mainly made of
ceramic, glass, resin or
marble. In any case, this installation requires specific measurements to be respected, for comfortable use by all, so that the upper edge of the washbasin must be between 80 and 90 centimetres from the floor, depending on the height of the regular users, with a consequent height of the tap so that the water jet outlet is positioned at a distance of between 15 and 20 centimetres from the washbasin edge. Therefore, with an average washbasin height of 85 cm, the spout of the mixer, whether free-standing or wall-mounted, should be positioned approximately between 100 and 105 centimetres, which is essential to ensure optimal operation and use.
