16/04/2020 - Suspended ambiance and the rhythm of furniture and surfaces: a new interior design project a stone's throw away from London’s Holland Park, curated by Elisa Ossino and Salvatori, is the perfect place for taking a break from the bustle of the city.

The structure displays the typical elegance of classic Regency architecture that conjoins neoclassical elements with the typical British formal sobriety”, says Elisa Ossino. “The interiors had it all: the staircase with the wooden handrail, the fixtures and the beautiful bow window. The principal idea was to keep the classic aspects and translate them into a contemporary language. Choice fell on an optical flooring, and I decided to use a 3D texture on vertical surfaces and connote the interiors with a selection of iconic furnishings.”

Walls and floor are tailor-made and greatly attribute to the relaxing and convivial atmosphere. Elisa Ossino reinterpreted the Salvatori marble, adapting it to a context typical for a London apartment: “I had a picture in mind of a floor with very narrow and long custom tiles in two contrasting shades to increase the depth of the interior and add a touch of personality to the space. Then I thought of adding a contemporary boiserie, obtained by coating the vertical surfaces with Plissè, and the 3D texture in Avola stone designed for Salvatori.

The idea was precisely to use Carrara white marble and Avola stone to connote the space and redefine a sort of modern classicism, while perfectly matching the classical architecture of the building. The whites of the stucco, of the handrail and the fixtures find a way to dialogue with the vibrant material used for the flooring and the walls
.“

Far from the noisy city it is possible to enjoy breakfast or have a cup up tea in the living room, read a book or simply contemplate the beautiful objects placed on the Proiezioni cocktail table: a Kilos cylinder bookend and a Homage to Morandi with an idiosyncratic form that resembles an enigmatic still life by Giorgio Morandi.

The sense of serenity is also palpable in the bathroom, with Adda furniture designed by David Lopez Quincoces. The equable rhythm of the dark Avola stone sinks harmonizes with the texture of the wall and with the Fontane Bianche taps by Salvatori and Fantini. Minimalist, simple, contemporary, it seems almost suspended, trickling down like the water used in daily routine, preparing for the day.
