Anglo-Italian design duo Brendan Young and Vanessa Battaglia are the founding directors of Mineheart, they also run their own renowned design consultancy, working on projects for many international clients including Audi, John Lewis, Next and Aeon. They began working together in 2003 under the name studiomold with their first collection of furniture using re-appropriated materials. This included the award winning 'Recycled Sound' system made from old vinyl records and 'Love' furniture using reject tennis balls which became part of the permanent collection at the MOMA in Monaco. Since then the couple have gone on to work for many UK and international clients designing furniture, lighting, sculptures and interiors, as well as art direction and packaging. Their playful philosophy and innovative use of materials and imagery has led them to work on an extremely wide variety of design projects and win several design awards. They have attracted international recognition through many exhibitions worldwide including New York, Milan, Tokyo, Paris and London. Their work has also been published in books, most leading design magazines, and selected for prestigious shows and collections such as the V&A and the MOMA.
