03/06/2024 - Clean lines, modular designs and simple shapes characterise the five new Ceramica Cielo washbasin collections designed by art directors Andrea Parisio and Giuseppe Pezzano. They include Otis, with its plastic strength; Kanto, with its dynamic asymmetry; Filo, a modular washbasin for the contract market; and Delfo, a cabinet. Luca Cimarra has created Itaca, a collection of "ceramic objects" with soft, primordial forms.

The sculptural power of Otis

Otis reinterprets the classic pedestal washbasin with its large oval bowl, which can be used either individually on the countertop or in a more structured version, placed on a single or double free-standing column.

A distinctive feature of the new Ceramica Cielo washbasin is its round or semicircular shelves, available in ceramics, marble and wood, which can be placed on one side of the washbasin. A curved towel rail complements the shelves, making the design fully autonomous, both aesthetically and functionally.

A pair of wall-hung WCs with the same essential and sculptural geometries as the washbasin completes the collection. Adding a ceramic plinth converts them into a floor-standing version.

The dynamic asymmetry of Kanto

The main characteristic of the Kanto washbasin is its unusual five-sided polygonal shape. This design choice allows it to fit harmoniously into the most challenging corners of the bathroom. The asymmetries create dynamic perspectives and new visual equilibria, turning otherwise unused areas into new aesthetic focal points.

The Ceramica Cielo washbasin, designed by the duo, allows the integration of a suspended storage element that either follows the geometric shape directly or diverges to create a large worktop. The cabinet transforms Kanto into a multi-material polygonal solid.

In the simpler version, the ceramic shelf, which follows the shape of the washbasin, creates a comfortable storage area. The collection includes a rectangular mirror enriched with a magnifying reflective section that bends to fit the corner.

Filo: a modular solution for the contract sector

Ideal for the contract housing and hospitality sectors, the modular Filo washbasin allows the seamless combination of various elements. The fulcrum of the proposal revolves around the large washbasin bowl from which the countertop extends.

Filo's more linear version starts with a washbasin with a wood strip - natural or lacquered - and a shelf and then evolves into a more structured model with a large storage drawer. Here, with exciting simplicity, the cabinet doors with horizontal or vertical integrated handles create intriguing geometric patterns.

The storage mirror completes the project. It has the same integrated handle as the washbasin unit, creating visual harmony that goes beyond the individual element.

A play of contrasts with Delfo

Delfo plays with contrasts - wood and ceramics, austerity and fluidity, solidity and lightness.

A new ceramic top enriches the range of possible compositions of the Ceramica Cielo washbasin unit, meeting the stylistic demands of contemporary customisation. A more essential top that covers the entire top of the cabinet now joins the oval version. A small containment rim prevents water from spilling out and adds movement to the composition.

With its rigorous and symmetrical lines, Delfo expresses itself through a game of combinations of ceramics and wood, creating different interpretations of a single model. The suspended storage unit in lacquered timber can be combined with bowls from other Ceramica Cielo collections. The dramatic aesthetic effect is enhanced by the version of the wall unit with a door in solid triangular wood slats.

The primordial Itaca objects

The story of the new Itaca collection, designed by Luca Cimarra, begins with the idea of an island. Land surrounded by water, a world closed in itself yet open to the sea, limited yet complete, the island is a metaphor for an increasingly intimate domestic space.

Symbolising homecoming and reconnection with roots, Itaca inspires a collection of monolithic ceramic elements with strong aesthetic impacts, best seen in its cylindrical free-standing washbasin, which can be paired with customisable wooden storage units designed to be essential, functional and compact.

Washbasins and sanitaryware with simple, primordial shapes emerge from the walls while blending harmoniously with the surrounding architecture. Highly metaphorical but also purely material and natural - the island is also earth, the same earth from which ceramics are born. In fact, the design narrative aims to highlight the material, making it absolutely central.

An oval washbasin, which can be used both as a countertop version and as a free-standing version by placing it on the column, and a pair of sanitary taps, available in both floor-standing and wall-mounted versions, complete the collection.
