04/09/2024 - In the world of interiors, sound control and aesthetics don't necessarily go hand in hand. Chicago-based Turf, a manufacturer of acoustic solutions ranging from ceiling baffles to wall tiles, screens and beyond, is addressing this issue with the introduction of the Stone Textures collection.
Inspired by nature, the collection brings the organic elegance of marble, granite and travertine to walls and ceilings, combining aesthetics with sound absorption. Employing a sophisticated digital printing process, the new collection translates the intricate veining of marble, granite and travertine onto sustainable and high-performance felt panels to create unique, non-repeating patterns for each texture, printed on Turf's 9mm 60% recycled PET felt using water-based UV-cured ink.
"Coming from years of research and collaboration, the creation of our Stone Textures line emerged from a deep understanding of current market demands. This debut highlights our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the design community as we continue to provide new, innovative products and finishes that blend aesthetics and high-performing acoustics," said Rob Perri, Turf President. "The expansion of our textures collection gives designers and architects unparalleled creative freedom to elevate interiors with visual and aural features."
The 31 available colourways across the three textures allow for endless design possibilities. Moreover, the collection can be applied to other lines of acoustic products, including Turf's Barcelona and Monolith panels, offering continuous matching for a seamless stone-like finish.
Turf uses 60% pre-consumer recycled PET felt in its products in an on-demand manufacturing process, ensuring minimal environmental impacts and keeping stock-related waste to a minimum.
Turf likes to say that "yesterday's waste is tomorrow's solution; it's either recycled into a high energy value fuel or experimented with to create new innovative solutions". With its new Stone Textures collection, the brand continues to redefine the possibilities of acoustic design by combining the appeal of natural materials with cutting-edge acoustic technology, proving that sound control can be as beautiful as it is functional.
