A Symphony of Colour in Nature-Inspired and Abstract Rugs

Zollanvari International will unveil new products and a new stand design at Maison&Objet, with featured designer Lőrincz V. Gabi

07/08/2024 - Zollanvari International will be participating in Maison&Objet from 5 to 9 September with a new exhibition design featuring the work of Hungarian designer Lőrincz V. Gabi, whose work is inspired by the play of light and shadow observed while walking; the designer often photographs these images or even makes a sketch to later transform into  textile patterns. She says, "I am passionate about my profession... it fills me with excitement when a design is born from the threads under my hands". Her work can be seen in the Hungarian Consulate in Munich, the Aranybástya restaurant in Buda Castle and the lounge of ING Bank's headquarters on Dózsa György út.

The brand will also present a carefully curated selection of textiles for the hospitality and contract markets. These include a series of colourful and nature-inspired rugs, from the blooming flowers of Flower Power 5 to the impressionistic 'Op Art' Flower Field from the Naïf collection to the poetic scenes of trees and forests of Autumnal Arboretum 3.

"Our use of pattern, colour and symbolism is constantly evolving. What sets us apart is that we actively encourage our weavers to let their own aesthetic sense shine through the designs", observes Reza Zollanvari, Group Managing Director

The rugs are a vibrant and dynamic interpretation of floral themes, celebrating the natural world through different perspectives, scales and artistic styles. The floral patterns range from realistic to abstract interpretations, using vibrant colours, from striking oranges and reds to deep blues and rich greens. Abstract elements like bold lines and geometries, harmonious and contrasting palettes, and textural and visual depth also characterise the rugs.

The exhibit will also include modernist designer flatweaves, a variety of runners such as 'Snowdrop' Flower Meadow Runner 6, 'Bird of Paradise' Flower Meadow Runner 5 and the Squares & Lozanges Runner 1 from the Squares Revisited/Gabbehs Geometric Collection. Another proposal is Abstract Modernist Landscape 1, a new design from the Zollanvari Studio's Stained Glass Collection, in the brand's Super Fine quality.

Other highlights include new chests and trunks in all shapes and sizes and additions to the Home Décor accessories collections in porcelain and wood.

Zollanvari was founded in 1947 when Gholam Reza Zollanvari joined his father's business. It continues today under the leadership of the sixth generation of Zollanvaris, with a presence in Switzerland, South Africa, and the USA. Inspired by the age-old spirit of Persian carpet design, Reza Zollanvari says, "Our motto has always been to stay ahead of the market. We constantly follow fashion, interior and colour trends and forecasts to stay ahead with our new designer range. In our traditional production, we are constantly revising, refining and updating archaic, tribal and classic designs to suit current market trends."
