BELLE NUIT By Materica
Metal boiserie
2024
The surface of the boiserie resembles a body of water, majestic in its three-dimensional illusion, inviting you to immerse yourself in the nocturnal lagoon. The deep, mysterious blue and the calm, vibrant lagoon green are the essence of this story. Light reflects the fluid vision of the element, creating an emotional play and a reconnection with water. Inspired by Jacques Offenbach’s “Belle Nuit,” this metallic boiserie captures the quiet and contemplation of the night. Each wave on the metallic surface is a musical note, a suspended moment, as the gondolier glides forward. The shades blend harmoniously, creating a visual effect that captures attention and stimulates the mind. This metallic creation offers a new perspective on the beauty of water and the serenity of the night.
Precious surfaces akin to art pieces that envelop spaces, conjuring up ever-varied worlds. This is Superfici Venice Collection, Materica’s first and groundbreaking collection of boiserie, unveiled at Milan Design Week 2024 and with the creative direction by Tiziano Guardini and Luigi Ciuffreda. Superfici Venice Collection is further enriched by designers with strong individual styles and diverse artistic visions who have crafted five signature collections, each a unique interpretation born from the alchemical expertise of Materica. Contributors include Matteo Cibic, Serena Confalonieri, DRAW Studio, Antonio Pio Saracino, STORAGEMILANO and GuardiniCiuffreda Studio. Each boiserie originates from a creative crossover of different processes and techniques. Metallization, achieved by high-speed melting and micronization of pure metals—from brass to bronze, copper to nickel-silver, aluminum to zinc—merges with oxidation, laser etching, resin coating, and natural pigmentation. Layers of materials and multiple processes reveal unexpected aesthetic effects.
