Dishwashers

A dishwasher is something you cannot miss. An appliance that has come to be indispensable, it has become the assistant that we all wish to have in a kitchen, especially if we eat often at home and have many people sitting at the table. As a matter of fact a dishwasher significantly speeds up the processes of cleaning and rearranging the kitchen, allowing us to save some efforts and enjoy some extra time to dedicate to other stuffs. Therefore it is undoubtedly worthy to delve into how to choose a dishwasher that perfectly responds to our needs, especially looking at how the household is composed and how many dishes we use. As a matter of fact, it is not always easy to buy a dishwasher. The market offers many different typologies and figuring out which is the one that best suits our specific needs could turn out to be rather tricky.

Built-in and free-standing dishwashers

There are definitely numerous typologies of dishwashers on the market and in order to choose the right one it is necessary to fully understand your specific needs. In the first place, the primary distinction to be drawn is between built-in and free-standing dishwashers. Built-in dishwashers are appliances planned to be installed inside the kitchen structure, so as to perfectly integrate with it. There are different models of built-in dishwashers able to meet all demands in terms of aesthetics and design. Integrated (or partially integrated) dishwashers, with visible controls placed in the front, fully concealed dishwashers, with the controls placed in the upper part and the door entirely covered by a panel, and under-counter dishwashers, which can be placed under the kitchen top. Free-standing dishwashers, on the other hand, can be positioned anywhere in the kitchen where plumbing and electrical connections are available. They are characterized by a refined design that makes them capable of fitting in perfectly into any environment.

Standard, slim e compact dishwashers

Once you have identified the typology of dishwasher you prefer, it is important to choose its capacity, that is to say the number of covers that can go from a minimum of 6 to a maximum of 16. A standard dishwasher can roughly have a capacity ranging from a minimum of 12 to a maximum of 16 covers. This is to be intended as a considerable difference if we consider that the external size of the machines is basically the same, with a width of 60cm, a height of 85 and a depth of 60 cm. Slim dishwashers, on their hand differ from the standard ones by their width of only 45 cm. The load capacity is therefore smaller and can go from 9 to 10 covers. As in the case of slim and standard dishwashers, the greater or lower loading capacity depends on the number of the baskets present in the inside. In recent years a new typology of dishwasher has begun to spread on the market, the compact dishwasher. With one single basket, 60cm or 45 cm wide, but only high60cm, it can load up to 6 or maximum 8 covers. It goes without saying that we are speaking of machines that are conceived for an especially occasional use, with no expectation to fulfill the needs of more than a single user.

Characteristics and design of dishwashers

No matter what model you choose, if stainless or stainless steel dishwashers, it is important to make sure that it is equipped with minimal functions and accessories. Indicator lights and washing programs are just some of the extras that contribute to the functionality of this household appliance. The design of modern models of dishwashers allows this item to fit into a variety of contexts. The models with a more compact size, for instance, prove especially suitable to modest size kitchens, making for a perfect space-saving solution. This will allow you not to give up to the comfort and handiness a dishwasher is able to offer. Last generation dishwashers stick out for their offer of diverse programs, some of them absolutely necessary and others that make for a real plus able to meet also the most specific demands, such as standard washing in half-time, the short washing, the silent or “eco” programs. Also as far as energy consumption is concerned, the latest generations of class A+++ appliances guarantee substantial savings on the electricity bill. Among the various typologies of this household appliance, in fact, we also find those with the most efficient energy class: A+++ dishwashers are certainly the most recommended at the moment of purchase because, not only do they result in savings on the electricity bill, but being of the latest generation they are optimized to always ensure top performance. If at a first sight dishwashers only differ from one other by the number of covers they can load, energy efficiency and the types of programs actually “hide” other important advantages; this is for instance the case of the adjustable basket, where special levers allow to delicately lift and lower the basket so as to to guarantee an easy access to dishes. Similarly to other appliances, dishwashers too can be connected and smart. This is the case of smart dishwashers that can be controlled via the smartphone or tablet. You will just need to download the dedicated app and you will instantly have the chance of managing the washing programs and the maintenance, with no need to worry any longer the right program to choose, since it will do it for you in full autonomy.
